Data training and consulting
Data quality consulting
We assess your databases across the four quality domains of values, structure, standards, and relationships, then put standardization and governance in place so the data becomes trustworthy and reusable.
What is data quality consulting?
Data quality consulting assesses an organization's databases across the four domains of values, structure, standards, and relationships, then establishes the standardization and governance that make the data trustworthy and reusable. The scope runs from public data quality maturity assessment and support for obtaining quality certification through to building out data governance.
Assessment across four domains
Missing values, duplicates, inconsistencies, and standards violations are identified systematically across values, structure, standards, and relationships.
Governance that stays
Quality management is embedded in the organization so it survives a change of staff.
Certification and assessment support
From assessment through to the submitted report, we work to the requirements of public data quality certification and maturity assessment.
What you'll learn
The core material this course covers.
- Assessment methodology for the four public data quality domains (values, structure, standards, relationships)
- Data standardization (words, domains, terms, codes)
- Preparing for data quality certification and maturity assessment
- Building and running a metadata management system
- Establishing governance for data-driven public administration
- Quality error remediation plans and monitoring
Curriculum
What we cover
- 1
Stage 1: Planning
Draw up the annual quality management plan and select the datasets to assess. Set quality targets and assign the team and people who will own the work.
- 2
Stage 2: Quality assessment
Assess all four domains across the full dataset to surface missing values, duplicates, inconsistencies, and standards violations.
- 3
Stage 3: Standardization and modeling
Document the as-is data model and design the to-be integrated model. Apply the common standard terminology to give the organization a standardization baseline.
- 4
Stage 4: Remediation
Correct the errors and reassess to confirm the improvement. Register metadata and set up the framework for sharing data across teams.
- 5
Stage 5: Reporting and prevention
Produce the quality management report and document what was learned from each error type. Establish ongoing monitoring so the same problems do not return.
How teams put this to use
Public data quality improvement at Korea Post Logistics Support Agency
A quality assessment of the logistics database and a remediation plan raised both the reliability of the data and its value once opened.
Data quality management and usage consulting for the Ministry of Science and ICT
A dataset quality assessment and an open data strategy laid the groundwork for private-sector use.
Standard vocabulary development for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy
A ministry-specific standard word dictionary established the basis for database standardization.
Expected outcomes
What changes once your team puts this to work on site.
- Fewer errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies make administrative decisions more reliable.
- Passing maturity assessment and earning quality certification raises the institution's standing.
- Standardized metadata makes data shareable between institutions.
- Embedded governance keeps quality management running through staff turnover.
Data quality consulting — FAQ
It depends on how much data you hold and its current quality, but we recommend allowing three to six months from the start of assessment to the certification application. Imagination Group works alongside your team at every stage, from planning through to writing the submitted report.
Yes. Quality management depends on the departments that create and use the data, not only on IT. We run workshops and guides pitched for non-technical staff so quality skills grow across every department.
You receive a list of errors by category, a prioritized remediation matrix, and a quality management report. They are written to the document formats required for maturity assessment and quality certification, so you can submit them without reworking anything.
